Darren Waters – an orthopaedic surgeon, and his wife Elizabeth – a general practitioner, purchased a run-down almond grove on Sellicks Hill in 1998.

Since then, the Waters family has put a lot of time, energy and passion into developing the property into a first-class vineyard and olive grove.

The Doc Adams winery brand was founded in 2005 when viticulturist Adam Jacobs and Darren Waters formed a partnership. They created a group of 22 grape growers and began producing high-quality wines under the Doc Adams label.

With their 2010 shiraz, the company won the Trophy for “Best Shiraz” at the McLaren Vale Wine Show in 2012. They won 13 more awards that year, putting Doc Adams on the map.

In 2016, the company opened its first Cellar Door, and in 2017/18, it was named “Cellar Door of the Year” in the McLaren Vale area. Doc Adams Wines has relocated its headquarters from the cellar door to Lonsdale. Now it offers more intimate tasting experiences of its fantastic wine selection.
The bar and tasting shed can accommodate you and your guest and is the ideal place to host your wedding.

The large and beautiful cellar door at Doc Adams Wines has all of the features of a high-end cellar door. High ceilings, large windows, beautiful light fixtures, and plenty of wood are among the features.

There is plenty of seating for adults and children inside the cellar door, on the patio overlooking the vineyards, and on the picnic tables and oversized chairs scattered around their lush lawns.

You can utilize the wonderful Australian bush lining the Doc Adams Winery’s property for your wedding photos.

For your wedding reception, you’ll most likely have a marquee set up in front of the cellar door to house the reception party (that is, if you are having a large party).

A dance area, as well as tables and chairs for the entire congregation to sit and be protected from the elements, are located within the marquee.

The Doc Adams Winery’s team will make an extensive range of wines, stock beer, spirits and soft drinks available.
If you’d prefer, your guests can make their DIY platter, where they can grab a tray and fill it with as many or a few items as they like.

They will also provide bar snacks and delicious platters. The team can make available artisan coffee and local gourmet food offerings, such as cheese, antipasto, bread and smallgoods.
