Somerton Beach is a pristine part of the Adelaide coastline located within the city of Holdfast Bay council. The beach is perfect for wedding ceremonies as the beach area is a reasonable distance from any jetty – therefore less people, however both the Brighton jetty (south) and the Glenelg jetty (north) is within a short distance if you’d like to use them for photos.
There are several life saving and sailing squadrons nearby however, and as there is no need to book the beach for a wedding ceremony, you may wish to get in contact with the local organisations so make sure they are not holding any events on the same day as your wedding.
Reception venues nearby include the Somerton Life saving club, and photo locations other than the beach itself include the John Miller reserve. Please be aware that the Somerton Beach is a public space, so local rules apply, including not being able to drive onto the beach by wedding cars, and further rules are available on the Holdfast bay website.
