The Glenelg Golf Club can quite safely claim to be one of the best wedding venues in Adelaide, proven by its consistent influx of awards. In 2020 its function space, known as Pinehill at Glenelg, was inducted into the ABIA Hall of Fame – something that’s only awarded to suppliers and venues which have won the state wedding award at least five times. The ABIA state award is based solely on reviews provided by previous couples, incorporating quality of product, quality of service, attitude of staff and value for money, so you know it can be trusted. The venue also won the Australian Bridal Industry Academy Award for Best Club Reception Venue in Australia in 2017, 2018 and 2019.
Established in 1927, Pinehill at Glenelg has a dedicated Sales and Events Manager who helps couples decide and realise their wedding goals from the beginning of the process up to and on the big day. Ceremonies can take place in three main locations: The eastern balcony overlooking the 18th fairway, amongst cathedral pines next to the clubhouse and golf course, or at the porte cochère. Ceremonies have the option to move indoors in cases of inclement weather, which is always a bonus when considering a predominantly outdoor venue. Standard ceremony inclusions feature 20 Americanca style chairs, a six metre red carpet, a signing table with two chairs and two golf carts – upgrades and additions are also available.
The stylish Glenelg Golf Club dining room can cater for receptions of up to 180 seated guests or 300 standing guests. Handy facilities include secure off-street parking, private bridal party room, locker and change room facilities, wheelchair access and audio visual equipment. The venue is able to provide complete room set up including table cloths and napkins, a cake table and knife, personalised menus, ceiling decoration options such as chandeliers, fairy lights and lanterns, chair covers, a gift table, and a major popular drawcard – an award winning resident MC and DJ.
Packages at set prices are transparently displayed in the Club’s online wedding brochure. The premier and platinum packages even come with wedding night accommodation and inclusions at one of their premium hotel partners. Special rates are given for weddings occurring in winter (1st June – 31st August) and on weekdays (Monday to Friday), and cocktail party options are available as well as full three-course sit down meals. There are convenient suggested beverage packages on offer, but couples are also welcome to pick and choose from the extensive wine cellar to create unique combinations to suit their tastes.
There are several beautiful locations to take photographs around the Golf Course; amongst the sprawling lawns, majestic old pine trees or in front of panoramic views of the Adelaide Hills. The venue is first and foremost a golf club, though, so some areas of the grounds may be restricted to golfers only. Depending on the timing, there are some lovely fairways, water features and areas of the course that can still be utilised for stunning photos. Glenelg’s beaches and jetty are also very close by, as well as the parklands, offering some handy off-site photo alternatives.
The Glenelg Golf Club location is super convenient, being only 15 minutes from the CBD, 5 minutes from the beachfront hub of Glenelg and 5 minutes from Adelaide Airport. A tram line directly connects Glenelg to the city centre, allowing easy access to a wide variety of accommodation options. Overall the Glenelg Golf Course is a perfect option for medium to large weddings, whether for reception only or ceremony and reception. The stylish, modern aesthetic coupled with decades of experience and tradition will appeal to a wide variety of tastes and styles.
