Lyndoch Hill and Barossa Chateau are part of an impressive 25-acre estate set in the beautiful wine region of Barossa Valley. Not only does the property boast a variety of choices for wedding ceremonies and receptions, it has the added bonus of accommodation options on-site. Weddings can easily turn into weekends or extended getaways for everyone involved, allowing guests to spend more time with the bride and groom or visit the world-famous wineries nearby.

The estate of Lyndoch Hill and Barossa Chateau contains one of the largest rose gardens in the world, with estimates of over 30,000 roses present. Each of the three garden options for ceremonies displays many of these beautiful roses:

  • Simply Magic Garden – A majestic old gazebo is the centrepiece of this sprawling grassy slope. The “cascade of colour” collection of roses fills the surrounding garden beds, while ancient gum trees provide dappled shade from above. The space accommodates well for small to medium wedding congregations and has lovely views of adjoining vineyards.
  • Seduction Lawn – Sometimes called one of the most romantic settings in the Barossa, white standard “seduction” roses line beautiful stone pathways between lush green lawns. Tall trees and grand stone ornaments provide pretty backdrops for photos and a comfortable area for guests.
  • Queens Gardens – Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II visited and officially opened these gardens in 2002. The Barossa baron Hermann Thumm began creating this garden fit for a queen in 2000 and is complete with a ceremonious central fountain. The grand Barossa Chateau with its stately stone columns supplies a perfectly royal backdrop.

Wedding receptions at Lyndoch Hill can be held outdoors in marquees, or indoors in the Lyndoch Hill restaurant or Barossa Chateau’s Barrell Room. The Barrell Room exudes old heritage warmth with huge wine barrels repurposed as a decorative backdrop. The decor can be personalised, with varying set hire prices for 50-79 guests, 80-99 guests and 100-140 guests. This includes white linen, chair covers, some fairy lights, and 40 candles with holders.

Lyndoch Hill takes pride in its food and offers complimentary menu tasting sessions for the bride and groom before the wedding. All menu options include bread baked freshly on site, and two chef-selected side dishes. Five different packages are on offer including the Cocktail Package, Classic Package, Vintage Package, Heritage Package and Icon Package – but these can all be designed and altered in discussion with the bride and groom.

There are 34 spacious motel-style rooms just steps away from the wedding venues, which come with access to a large seasonal swimming pool. Some rooms have a private balcony, some are upsized for families, and most have views of the beautiful surrounding gardens. For a truly luxurious treat, the 5-star Barossa Chateau Residence can be hired for exclusive use, containing two stately bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms, a formal dining room and full kitchen. A private balcony provides sweeping views of the estate gardens, and the majestic gallery is just outside. Breakfast is included here, or it’s a short walk to the restaurant to enjoy a communal recovery breakfast with friends and family.

For even more photograph opportunities beyond the estate there are a large variety of wineries and vineyards within a short drive, such as Kellermeister, Burge, Jenke and Jacob’s Creek. Sandy Creek Conservation Park is 5 minutes away and provides a more natural bush setting with a quaint little creek to pose by.

The estate of Lyndoch Hill and Barossa Chateau ticks all the boxes for not only an atmospheric ceremony and reception venue, but a relaxing holiday getaway destination to boot. Gardens, roses, great food, world-class wine, beautiful buildings, comfy accommodation – what’s not to love?
