The Stangate House and Garden is a heritage-listed home in Aldgate, South Australia. Stangate House and Garden is a one-of-a-kind home surrounded by beautiful and expansive Camellia gardens. The location, which the National Trust of South Australia owns, has been elegantly and thoughtfully maintained.
Stangate House is one of Adelaide’s most gorgeous locations due to its garden setting. A variety of mature trees frame the garden. The most popular is the big English oak tree that still adjoins the shaded promenade known as Lovers’ Lane and is said to have been planted by a homesick gold prospector.
The tree was discovered in the late 1800s, likely in the mid-1870s. The garden was named an International Camellia Garden of Excellence in 2012, one of only three in Australia and 30 worldwide.
Stangate House and Garden, located in the picturesque Adelaide Hills, is a remarkable place that is excellent for all types of wedding ceremonies.
There is no shortage of magic to make your celebration unique with so many magnificent places and photo opportunities on the same property.
The Gardens provide solitude and a beautiful setting for saying “I do.” With terraced gardens on a four-acre site, the environment is well-suited for ceremonies. The garden has power outlets and a signing table with two chairs.
However, it is always a great idea to have a Plan B in case of bad weather, and Stangate offers the historic drawing room for a little cost if you need it.
You have the unique option to use the entire garden exclusively. The Wedding Ceremony Package includes a wide range of options, such as pictures and use of the bride’s room and bathroom in the house. (You may want to bring refreshments so your friends can walk the garden while you and the bridal party take pictures.)
The house is available for wedding receptions. Stangate House is located in Aldgate. The 1940s mansion, designed by Adelaide architect Eric McMichael, is built on four acres and overlooks the camellia gardens. It is a flexible space that can be set up in a variety of different formats to suit your style and décor.
Although currently, Stangate House is only taking wedding ceremony (not reception) bookings at this current time.
Whether you want an outdoor or indoor ceremony, Stangate House can host up to 60 people and 120 people if you are having a garden ceremony.
However, the ceremony can only last 5 hours. It can last up to 8 hours if it is a private hire. Whatever the case may be, by 7 pm latest, your ceremony should have ended, and your guests dispersed.
You can come with your own food and drinks or take advantage of their vendor lists. If you bring your alcohol, you will also require a liquor licence.
The gardens at Stangate House are ideal for a stroll and perfect for a wedding. The soft light cast by the big trees’ overhanging leaves on a bright day can be rather magical.
This garden would be ideal for a wedding in any season. The gardens would give pleasant and welcome shade in the summer, the autumn colours would be stunning, and a walk around the garden followed by a warm, open fire in the cold winter months would make Stangate House a fantastic place to say ‘I do’ all year round.
