Sferas Convention Center

Sferas Convention Center complex has so many options for personalised weddings, it’s easy to see why it’s become a popular spot in Adelaide. Four stylish ballrooms have been recently renovated, individually designed to elicit unique atmospheres and styles. Guest capacity varies for each room, ranging from 30-420 guests, with each utilising the surrounding parkland views, water features and natural lighting in a distinctive way. Two in-house bars and restaurants can be used for pre- or post-reception drinks and nibbles, and there’s a handy little purpose-built chapel on site.

The adjoining parklands of Civic Park offer picturesque locations for outdoor ceremonies, as well as plenty of lush green photo-ops amongst landscaped gardens. Wedding arches, white carpets and Chiavari chairs are all offered through Sferas range of ceremony options.

Sferas Convention Center offers luxury accommodation on site, making it easy for the bridal party or guests to stay if they wish. 22 rooms of varying size are available, including 2 deluxe spa suites, 14 premier spa suites, 3 queen spa suites, 2 premium suites, and the largest room, the loft suite. Free 24 hour public parking is available, and easy public transport to the CBD is within walking distance.

The Marquee ballroom, the largest of the function rooms, boasts a glamorous grand piano by the dance floor and a palatial overhead chandelier. Sheer floating ceiling sails join forces with fairy lights to create an enchanting atmosphere – all able to be tweaked to the personal tastes of the bride and groom.

The Studio ballroom has a sophisticated chic vibe, with polished wooden floorboards and a pressed metal bar. Sferas calls this their most flexible space, ready to be customised to any desired theme. The Starlight ballroom incorporates the Starlight Grand Lobby, featuring an Italian travertine marble staircase, indoor fountain and vintage wine wall. Mint ballroom is the smallest space, but no less grand with its high ceilings and state of the art HD audio visuals.

Each ballroom has access to consistently high quality food and beverage packages, which are able to be completely tailored to individual needs. Grazing platters and dessert buffets are available for small or casual weddings, all the way up to decadent 5 course meals for more formal affairs.

To entertain guests while the bridal party takes photos, or to party on after the reception, Boca Chica bar has a lively Spanish theme with tapas and meditteranean cocktails on offer. Paradiso cocktail bar serves up platters and drinks against a backdrop of lush foliage and German and Moroccan wallpapers.

The complex has a strong history of outstanding function services and excellent food. The place began as Sfera’s The Gourmet Centre in 1986, as one of the first businesses in the region to cater gourmet food to large functions. In 1997 Sfera’s on the Park opened as a successful wedding venue. In 2002 the heritage listed Modbury School House building was converted into a fine dining Italian restaurant, before the opening of Sfera’s Park Suites and Convention Centre in 2008. So they’ve had plenty of practice in their family-run craft.

Sfera’s Convention Center can organise packages that include the ceremony, decor, flowers, cake, bridal suite, reception and transfers all in one. With its central location close to the CBD, ability to host the entire day from getting ready through to partying late, and all the in betweens, this is a great one-stop destination for easy, stress free weddings in Adelaide.
